Front shock absorbers control the movement of the front suspension and springs. They keep the tyres in contact with the road after bumps and potholes, which is what steering response and braking performance depend on.
ZEIK front shock absorbers are twin-tube units charged with nitrogen gas. The gas charge reduces the aeration and foaming that degrade damping when the fluid is worked hard. The all-weather fluid contains friction modifiers so the piston rod reacts smoothly from cold, and the hardened chrome-plated rod resists wear over a long service life.
The range covers European and Japanese passenger cars and SUVs. Depending on the vehicle the front unit is a conventional shock absorber, a strut cartridge or a complete suspension strut; the catalogue lists each reference by fitting position (left, right or both sides).
Shock absorbers wear gradually. They are replaced in axle pairs so that damping stays balanced from side to side.
